Who is it for?
The Backyard is for children ages three through kindergarten.
When is it offered?
The Backyard is offered during the 10:45 service.
What curriculum will be used?
We are using curriculum by reThink group called "First
Look". First Look is a unique approach to curriculum, designed to give preschool
children a first impression of their loving heavenly Father. This curriculum
covers three basic truths - God Made Me, God Loves Me, Jesus Wants to be
My Friend.
We will be teaching one Bible verse each month. The children hear, see, and
say the Bible verse and begin to both understand and memorize it. The Bible
stories and most of the activities point toward the weekly focus. The
children receive a monthly magnet , and a weekly parent resource called Small
Talk.
What will the schedule be like?
The children will start out in small groups with their age
level, where the leaders will interact and start forming relationships with the
children. During this time they are given a snack and may also do an activity. Then they
go "The Backyard" (the former youth room) for a high energy,
large group activity. This includes worship, Bible verses, skits, Bible
stories, puppets and more! After "The Backyard" they will return to there small
groups for an activity and dismissal.
