A MESSAGE FROM YOUR
NEW SENIOR PASTOR AND HIS WIFE
June 11, 2007
Dear Friends at Maranatha:
At
9:00 this morning, I called Rev. Dan Miller to let him know that I
have accepted the unanimous call of the Elders at MBC to become your
new Senior Pastor. Arliss and I are very excited about moving to
Horseheads and beginning our new ministry among you.
I
am presently serving as an Intentional Interim Senior Pastor here in
PA. My special arrangement with my District Superintendent calls for
a 60 day notice to conclude this ministry. So my final Sunday here
will be August 5, 2007. Lord willing, we will then move to
Horseheads that next week and begin our service at MBC on Sunday,
August 12.
We
would like to especially thank Mr. Dave Roemer, Chairman of the
Search Committee, and Mr. Brad Lytle, Chairman of the Elders. These
two men have been in constant contact from the very first phone
call. They have exhibited Godliness, forthrightness, and integrity
at each stage of this process.
We
would also like to express our gratitude to Pastor Lynn Kent. God
used Him in a mighty way to bless MBC in a variety of ways. As
someone who has served in the same role, I have a deep appreciation
for all that he has accomplished.
I
am dispatching my real estate expert—Arliss—to Horseheads, to search
for a house. We praise the Lord that our home here in York has been
sold. Please pray for the following things as we seek to make a
smooth transition:
-
Pray that we
will “finish well” at the Elizabethtown Alliance Church
-
Pray that we
will find just the right house for our needs
-
Pray that the
moving process will go smoothly
-
Pray that I
will have wisdom to prepare a sermon schedule that will meet the
needs of the body of Christ at MBC
Finally, here’s a favorite passage that we want to characterize our
time at MBC:
“Jesus called them
together and said, ‘You know that in this world kings are tyrants,
and officials lord it over the people beneath them. But among you it
should be quite different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you
must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be the
slave of all. For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served
but to serve others, and to give my life as a ransom for many.’"
(Mark 10:42-45)
We
look forward to seeing you all very soon!
