History - Who We Are Maranatha Bible Chapel was begun in the mid-1960’s, born out of the vision of Rev. Howell Graf. He was the pastor, at that time, of the Elmira, NY Christian and Missionary Alliance Church (C&MA). Maranatha Bible Chapel is a member church of the C&MA, an evangelical Protestant denomination with a strong emphasis on outreach and world missions. Currently, over 425 adults, teens and children from over 160 households consider Maranatha their church home. We are a congregation with good representation from all age groups including many young families. The church family is friendly and warm, always glad to see new faces and meet new friends. Worship services at Maranatha are a blend of traditional styles. We have a worship team and enjoy singing praise choruses. We also find real richness and lasting meaning in the great old hymns of the church. We give great emphasis to prayer and to the preaching of God’s Word – the Bible.
